This is Faith

A talk with a dear friend this morning about the idea of neighbourhood inter-faith devtions reminded me of this song of Elika Mahony with words by Amatul Baha.

What is left when in time of adversity such as the one in Japan and New Zealand recently, the world we have spent  building all our life vanishes before we blink an eye?

What keeps us going? Where our strength to GO comes from? How and why do we start our life anew?! How do we get the energy to cope now, imagine, work to create a new reality?

Money is GREAT and needed for reconstruction but if we do not have Faith, we have nothing...

Enjoy the song and read the beautiful lyrics of the poem below. Then join us in person or remotely on the 22 of March  (email for details) in Supplicating the All-Mighty to give all those affected by calamities Faith, courage and strength to go on...

THIS IS FAITH
To walk where there is no path
To breathe where there is no air
To see where there is not light-
This is Faith.

To cry out in the silence,
The silence of the night,
And hearing no echo believe
And believe again and again-
This is Faith.

To hold pebbles and see jewels
To raise sticks and see forests
To smile with weeping eyes-
This is Faith.

To say: "God, I believe" when others deny,
"I hear" when there is no answer,
"I see" though naught is seen-
This is Faith.

And the fierce love in the heart,
The savage love that cries
Hidden Thou art yet there !
Veil Thy face and mute Thy tongue
yet I see and hear Thee, Love,
Beat me down to the bare earth,
Yet I rise and love Thee, Love !"
This is Faith.

  2. Thank you Sarita!!! May be we can multiply it on the 22d in other areas of town? I'm working on an invitation to give to the neighbors...
